Synergy was contracted to undertake the systematic demolition and removal of two previously decommissioned grout filled USTs from inside the Monroe Springs warehouse, including the installation of engineered screw piles and footings and contaminated soil remediation
The removal of two decommissioned 13,700-litre diesel USTs required careful planning due to their location beneath critical building structures inside a warehouse.
Synergy was engaged to complete the construction of Aexandria Tank Pull.
Synergy installed six engineered screw piles and reinforced concrete footings to stabilise adjacent steel column footings before excavation commenced. Without this system, UST removal would have undermined the columns and caused major roof damage. By proactively installing the supports, Synergy enabled safe demolition of the tanks with zero movement or impact to the overhead structure. Excavation was completed under geotechnical and structural supervision, with tanks demolished in-situ and grout broken out using hydraulic attachments. Approximately 135 tonnes of contaminated soil were disposed of under full tracking and 120m3 of certified VENM imported for backfilling.
