Synergy was contracted to undertake mitigation works to minimise the risk of using land at a Tweed Shire Council former landfill site by providing a barrier layer between potential contaminants from the site’s former use as a landfill and its future use as an animal rehousing facility.
The project required significant earthworks that involved the placement of a geotextile marker layer followed by an engineered fill layer acting as a barrier layer over the site completed in accordance with the Remediation Action Plan.
The work involved the construction of 4 level building / access pads and the construction of 550 metres of access roads base and 460 metres of swales and concrete culverts to control water over the site.
