The Byron Shire Council engaged Synergy Resource Management for the remediation of the former Mullumbimby Hospital site where near surface asbestos was identified. Synergy undertook remedial excavation under friable asbestos conditions and disposed of contaminated material offsite. Following the achievement of design levels a controlled cap was installed, incorporating a geofabric marker layer, placement of approved clean fill and the establishment and maintenance of a grass surface.
Successful accomplishment of the remediation works required collaborative efforts between the contracted hygienist and environmental consultants ensuring the remedial goals and clean-up criteria were achieved. Efficient management of plant and truck movements was crucial in the works program to minimise disturbances to the local residents.
Synergy’s professional and experienced team as well as their willingness to provide the best result and go over and above for the client led to the success of the project. Based on my recent experience, I highly recommend Synergy Resource Management for similar projects and would happily work with them again in the future.
