Synergy was engaged by Sydney Water Corporation (SWC) to undertake remediation and civil services on three parcels of contaminated land to remediate and landscape to ensure long-term suitability for public use.
Located in the heart of Mascot the parcels of land had a long history of fly tip waste and uncontrolled fill importation due to the suburban renewal and high-density apartment construction occurring in the vicinity.
SWC recognised remediation and upgrade of these land parcels for suburban open park space would provide a valuable public amenity.
Through extensive environmental assessment, heavy metal and asbestos contaminated material was identified across all three portions requiring the site to be consolidated, capped and upgraded for recreational purposes.
In collaboration with SWC and its remediation consultant, Synergy presented several comprehensive solutions to address issues that emerged both before and during the project. This approach guaranteed the successful outcome of the project.
