Synergy was contracted by the Moree Plains Shire Council to excavate, stockpile and line the second stage of Landfill Cell 1 to meet the local residents’ future waste management needs. 

The expansion of the Moree Waste Management facility will double the capacity available to the local residents. Operating within the current landfill site, works were coordinated with present site users and had minimal impact on the day-to-day running of the landfill operations.

The bulk excavation,  utilising scrapers, excavators and graders was completed ahead of the scheduled program.

This allowed the installation of the detailed lining system, including connection to the existing liner to be completed during favorable weather conditions. While connecting the lining systems, challenges arose due to leachate migration from the existing cell to the new cell. Despite posing difficulties in the works, a collaborative effort ensured a quick efficient solution.
